Bathampton Manor - Closing

It is with great sadness that the Board of BCVS Homes have announced that one of their care homes for the elderly at Bathampton is to close later this year.

Bathampton Manor has been operating as a care home since 1947 and currently has some 15 full time residents. Commenting on the announcement, a spokesperson for the Board said ‘This has been a very difficult decision to make, Bathampton Manor has been an integral part of BCVS for so many years and we know how much it means to our residents and staff alike. Unfortunately, care needs have changed and as the Manor is a listed building , we simply can’t adapt it in a way that makes any practical or economic sense. Our intention as ever is to put the welfare of our residents first and work with them and their families to ensure that there is plenty of time to arrange alternative accommodation, either with us at our other property in Bear Flat or with an alternative provider. The same applies to our staff who have worked incredibly hard especially during COVID restrictions and where possible, alternative employment within BCVS will be offered.’

21 single rooms - 11 with en suite facilities. All rooms fully furnished.

Bathampton Manor is a Grade II Listed Country Manor House, once in the ownership of the Ralph Allen family. Many original features can still be seen around and about the building. The Manor is set in a beautiful countryside position; close to the Kennet and Avon Canal; St Nicholas Church and local hostelries.

To the front of the Manor is a landscaped garden with walkways and seating areas. There is a sunny and sheltered patio to one side of the house and a large sunny Garden Room to the other. The Home provides “around the clock” care. Managers are on duty at all times.
